Venus of Dolní Věstonice Hand Painted 3D Print Paleolithic Replica

from £16.00
The Venus of Dolní Věstonice is one of the oldest ceramic human made objects ever found. Dating between 25,000-30,000 BC the figurine was fired in an open bonfire and sculpted by a Palaeolithic man or woman- probably as a fertility talisman.

This artefact of the proto-pagan world was made when mammoths and woolly rhinoceros roamed the ice-age landscape of Europe. Found in 1925 in what is now the Czech Republic, this Venus was among a number of ceramic models excavation from the site. In 2002 a detailed digital scan of the item was made by Králík et al., allowing us to appreciate this revolutionary sculpture of our ancient heritage in all its detail.

This high quality full size replica is printed in PLA to a accuracy of 0.1mm. Painted and finished by hand using a combination of techniques to make the model as faithful to the original as possible. The texture imitates the varying rough and polished feel of the clay, the dark brown colour a hallmark of its primitive firing in an open pit. This version of the sculpture has the addition of a base allowing it to stand upright on your mantle piece or shelve.

A rare chance to own a unique and quality model designed by ancient-man and reproduced using modern 3D printing.
