The Northern Gannet (Morus bassanus) is perhaps one of the most majestic birds found along the coast of the British Isles. They can be seen flying in convoy off the cliffs, occasionally diving into the sea at great speed. With a wingspan of 1.8 meters, they must be one of the counties largest birds. The site of them up at their Bempton colony is quite mesmerising.
This life-sized 3D print is made from recyclable corn-starch PLA plastic and based on a digital MRI scan of an actual Northern Gannet skull sourced from Dr Emily Addams et al. and highly edited by us here at Chapel Prints. It makes for a great gift for any ornithologist or those interested in natural biology or anatomy. It is particularly detailed thanks to its digital source. You can see the unusually strong cranium bones, and re-enforced jaw are designed to withstand the impact of the bird's high-speed diving. The item is finished by hand using acrylic paints, great for display purposes.

Our gannet skull is anatomically accurate while having no animal harmed in the process! Measuring around 175mm long at the base the skull is in two pieces and printed to an accuracy of around 0.1mm.
