Lake District 3D Printed Topography Relief Map - Hand Painted and Framed

£150.00
Own a little piece of the Lake District with this 3D printed topography map. This is one of our larger maps measuring 37.5 cm by 40 cm square (not including the frame). The scale sees around 1 cm covering 1.5 miles. The map covers the whole of the Lake District and beyond - from Heysham at the edge of Morcombe Bay in the south to a few miles north of Penrith. The wooden frame for this piece has been painted a modern black stain.

The Z-axis has been scaled up by around 8 times to highlight the geographical details in all their glory. We hope our map captures some of the beauty of this corner of Northern England. Particular attention has been paid to lakes and estuaries for this piece, with all the major bodies of water hand-painted onto the map. It makes for a great wall-hanging for any fell walker, rambler, or Wainwright enthusiast.

All our maps are hand made by an artist - the frames are hand-cut by us from recycled wood. We use images from satellite maps to guide us as we paint each hill and vale by hand. Actual geographical data provided by various space missions, as well as sonar, radar, and LiDAR datasets, help form a complete map of Earth's surface, from which we source and translate the data for our 3D map models. This particular map took more than 50 hours to print, and we think it was well worth the wait!
