Anatomical Hedgehog Skull Replica 3D Printed

from £12.50
Hedgehogs are sadly an increasingly rare sight among the bushes and hedgerows of the UK. The UK population of the European Hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) has declined between 30 and 50 percent in the last 20 years. With bright beady eyes and a brickly back, they snuffle their way through the gardens and fields of Britain every night in the spring and summer.

Although often presumed to be yet another rodent, they are in fact members of Insectivora - related to moles and shrews - this can be seen when looking at their skulls. Hedgehogs lack the large front teeth seen in rodents and their skulls although small are more heavily built, seeming to share more features with animals like badges and dogs.

This to-scale, anatomically accurate replica of a Hedgehog skull cranium and jawbone is fantastically detailed and painted in a naturalistic style. The print shows a complete set of teeth and is a great addition to anyone's collection.

The item is printed, finished, sprayed in an acrylic primer, painted, and carefully packaged to you. Being 3D printed in PLA plastic the replica is relatively environmentally friendly and cruelty-free - perfect for naturalists who are concerned about the impact or sourcing of skulls for their collections.

Skull measurements: 6cm x 4cm x 3.5cm.

This is a one-of-a-kind 3D printed skull made with love in our little Chapel. The careful painting and hand-finishing process we undertake retains detail and gives a beautiful end product - the printing time of the cranium and jaw is around 8 hours.

Printed in cornstarch PLA plastic, sprayed with a high-quality primer, and painted to appear as life-like as possible. Posted from East Yorkshire.
